The Making of a Knight
Providence Englewood Charter School (PECS) is a Pre-K through 8th-grade charter school serving the Englewood community. We are a part of Chicago Public Schools and enrollment at PECS is free. Our mission is to prepare students for responsible citizenship and a successful high school career, paving the way for college enrollment.
Our curriculum is designed to equip students for higher education. We are committed to excellence in every aspect of the teaching and learning process. Students, teachers, and administrators set high expectations for themselves and each other. To ensure academic success, our curriculum is regularly reviewed and updated, providing students with the tools they need to thrive. Course offerings are tailored to help all students reach their full intellectual potential. Additionally, we encourage students to develop strong study habits and self-motivation to achieve their academic goals.
At PECS, we believe personal development is as important as intellectual growth. We foster an environment of mutual respect, acceptance of differences, and care for others. Through this approach, we aim to help students develop a strong moral compass and a sense of responsibility toward helping those in need.
We strive to instill in our students a deep sense of personal and cultural pride, a mature understanding of responsibility, and the discipline needed to achieve their goals. We encourage them to embrace a mindset of excellence, refusing to settle for less than their best. With these qualities, we believe our students will not only shape their own futures but also contribute meaningfully to the future of our community.
“Members of the Providence Englewood Charter School community – students, parents, teachers and administrators – refuse to bend to the pressures of limited resources or to submit to the limitations imposed by low expectations. Rather, we perform out of a healthy sense of dissatisfaction, recognizing with pride how far we have come, but never losing sight of how far we have yet to go.”
